Vintage Cards

Hi Everyone,

Just popped on to post the finished Vintage cards that were in the making on my desk last week.
I used papers from the Paper Cellar Victorian Classic paper pad and images from a 12 x 12 double sided paper I picked up at the bargain price of 10p as the inspiration for colours for both cards.

The colours of the first one seem quite bright when they have come up on the photo but they look much more toned down in the flesh with aged Mahogany, old paper, antique linen and bundled sage used on the background and die-cuts, with a tickle of vintage photo on the edges.










 



I am really pleased with the way the second one turned out.  This new twinpack of Sissix folders did not take long to jump in to my shopping basket when I spotted them, and I dont think you need to do to much with them as there is so much detail to look at as they are.  A tickle again this time with treasure gold over the pumice stone background seemed to do the trick with the eiffel tower and the french script had a dust of pumice stone then after embossing it was tickled with victorian rose.

The close up gives you a better view of the flower which is actually an inked coffee filter flower on the bottom of the card to pick out the colour of the necklace.

Last minute again!

Hi Blog Friends,
Here I was very pleased with myself that I had my Tag for June made and posted in good time for once. I was sat watching Kay Halliwell Sutton from Indigo Blu demonstrating her fabulous new Christmas range when suddenly I realised it was the 19th of the month and I had not done my project for their latest challenge Backgrounds Galore.  So last night I was in my normal last minute mode making up my card before the challenge closes today 20th. 

I started this card using the small flower stamp from the clockwork A5 set.  I first of all inked it up with Seedless Preserve distress ink, then rubbed off the ink from the leaves and re-inked these up with Peeled Paint distress pen.  This was stamped around the edge of white cardstock to create a border.  I made a few masks for the flowers and stamped over them using one of the background stamps from the itsy bitsy collection and Memento London Fog.  I mounted this onto black cardstock and onto an 8 x 8 white base card.  I stamped a piece of 5 x 5 white cardstock with the same itsy bitsy stamp  as earlier, but this time using a mix of London Fog, Peeled Paint and Seeded Preserve on the stamp at the same time to get a nice mix of the three colours.  The edges were inked black with a black pro-marker to make it stand out againt the white layer beneath it. I stamped the larger rose from the clockworks set four times so it made a ring template on to scrap paper. From this I was able to create a black background mat by drawing around the ring and cutting it out from black cardstock a little larger than the template ring.   I used the lovely square peg round hole stamp and inked it up with Seedless Preserve.  First I stamped it onto scrap paper, then used second generation stamping onto white cardstock so the stamped image was a bit softer.  This was mounted onto the black shaped mat I had made earlier.  I made four larger roses by using the same technique as I used on the border, only this time I cut them out, shaped them, and mounted them using 3d pads to give a bit of depth.  I stamped a sentiment from the Bloomin Great stamp set and placed it in the centre.

I love the way Indigo Blu stamps mix and match with each other throughout their range of different stamps, even most their seasonal stamps can be adapted so they can be used the rest of the year as flourishes etc. and the quality of all their products is fantastic.

June Tag

Hi Everyone,
I was determined not to be last minute this month with my tag, and so as the sun was shining lovely in the garden today, I took the photos outside.  My next door neighbour thinks I have lost the plot a little on my hands and knees photographing a 'little piece of card' as he calls it, totally oblivious of the work gone into it as he tends his garden, oh well we both understand our own little world. I love the way this tag turned out, 

This month Tim had us using the distress pens, which I have not had out for a while so it was good to use them again.
The colours I chose were Scattered Straw, Broken China, Weathered Wood & Gathered Twigs. The dragonflies were stamped with archival ink onto the watercolour card, and coloured with the distress markers and waterbrush.  Once dry, I lightly distressed over the whole card using the same colours of distress pads and the tool.  Tim showed us how to pick up the ink off the craft sheet and flick it onto the tag, this is the technique I have used to get the blue and brown splats of ink.

I tore the bottom edge of the card and went around it with Gathered Twigs.  I felt it looked a bit lost, so I repeated the process again, twice over to give a layered look which I am really pleased with.
 The background again was using the same 4 colours, but this time using weathered wood distress paint, broken china distress stain, Scattered straw pad  all dabbed onto the craft mat and spritzed with water.  The tag was dragged through it and it was spritzed again to blend. I dried this off slightly and flicked the ink with the waterbrush as I did earlier to get more splats on the tag.  The tag was stamped top and bottom with archival ink using one of my most favourite stamp sets (Stampers Anonymous Classics 3), and the edges were again distressed with Gathered Twigs.

The Vintage ribbon was coloured using the same colours and inks/paints as the background of the tag.

A little addition of idea-ology chit chat words and a couple of beads from my stash finished it off nicely.

Whenever I do dragonflies, I am oh so tempted to give them a tickle of stickles on their wings, but I was very strict with myself this time, and refrained from doing this as I thought it would spoil the overall effect.

WOYWW 210

So what is on my desk today.......

Wow it looks staged but it is just because the boxes at the front and my tool kit are ready to be packed into my bag for today's workshop and the pile at the back consists of the components to start my June Tag of 2013.  I am one of those strange people that have to clear up in between projects otherwise I can't see the wood for the trees.  There are a couple of finished atc's on the left that were left drying overnight with glossy accents, talking of which on my other desk..... 


The postman has been very busy this week as I am sure they have all over the world, delivering Happy mail in the form of atc swops for WOYWW 4th birthday. 

I have been a very lucky girl to receive not one but six beautiful atc's from fellow WOYWW blog friends.
On the top we have an atc and envelope from Cindy.
To the left we have an embossed fan from Buttons
A beautiful Colourful owl came courtesy of Krisha I love his sunnys:)
In the centre a very appropriate busy work desk superbly coloured by Anne
Bottom left Maisie Moonshine went for a lovely purple butterfly theme
and last but by no means least the I believe in Angels atc and gorgeous matching tag was sent over from Ria. I love the metal clock charm at the top of this.


I think you will agree they are all amazing and they will all be treasured Thank you. 
If any of you are wondering what I made with the Vintage stuff  I was working on last week, I will be posting the cards after I have completed the workshops.

WOYWW 209

Hi Everyone,
A big HI and WELCOME to my new follower Cindy Thank you so much for joining me on my Crafty journey.   Another week gone by, where we do not know!
On my workdesk today we have...................

 

 A Vintage theme going on.  I have one card finished, you just get a glimpse on the left hand side, and the other is in the making.  I recently purchased a couple of new Tim Holtz emboss folders and thought I would give them a whirl with the vintage lace and vintage doiley dies I already had.  The white flowers in the centre are cut from the mini tattered florals die, and are awaiting inking, and the vintage paper sheet I am using was this weeks bargain basement at just 10p.   At the back of my desk you can see two atc's I have received from Cindy and Buttons as swops for WOYWW 4.
I have took a close up picture of them both so you can get a better look.

Cindy has gone to the trouble of decorating a matching envleope for hers
The little blue heart is wooden, and WOYWW4 is highlighted with a
glass fragment.  You cant quite see on the photo but there is a tickle of gold on
the edges giving it a very luxurious look. 

Buttons has a fantastic triple embossed fan taking centre
stage on hers, and again on the photo it may be difficult
to see the writing, it reads "Be Your Own Biggest Fan".

So the question is, WHY? am I showing off the contents of my workdesk, well to solve that mystery, tune in here and have a look for yourself.  Why not join in the fun its very addictive.
